The Story

The 2025 Shincha harvest is sold out. Sign up below to be notified when the 2026 harvest arrives in May!

Hachiju Hachiya means “eighty-eight nights.” It refers to the eighty-eighth day after the first day of spring in the traditional Japanese calendar, which is said to be the best time to harvest tea. Shincha, which means “new tea,” is produced from the first harvest of Sencha tea plants in the spring, and is only available in very limited quantities. Shincha is mild, sweet, and vibrant—the perfect tea to celebrate spring.

Our 2025 Shincha was harvested in late April and early May—meaning there's only about a month from harvest to your cup! This year's harvest is aromatic and well-balanced, with a gentle sweetness and soft grassy notes.
